Jack Klott, MSW

Jack Klott, MSW, (He/Him) brings to River City Psychological Services over forty years of working in a variety of settings with various populations. Jack earned his Master’s degree in Social work in 1970 from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Jack learned very early in his career that therapy is all about the relationship between therapist and client. In the context of that caring relationship, he assists the client in discovering their hurt and manage life’s challenges. He consistently shows respect for the uniqueness of the
client. The people he’s had the privilege of seeing have had certain struggles, but the struggles don’t define them.

Jack is interested in listening to his clients’ hopes for the future, their social context, their sense of self, and their history of trauma. He has a vast experience working with people struggling with substance abuse and dependency concerns. He has a passion for working with people who have lost a loved one to suicide. He’s found himself increasingly interested in working with people as they move into later stages of life and the challenges of that transition. Jack also works with parents and loved ones of children who have identified themselves as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Jack’s approach to therapy is basically relational. He believes in a safe and supportive therapy approach. He’s published four books for mental health professionals related to suicide and co-occurring disorders.
