Claire Graves, MA CAADC
Claire (she/her) practices an eclectic, person-centered, gender affirmative approach to therapy. Claire has significant experience working with adults struggling with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health issues, and intimate partner violence. Claire practices an inclusive and holistic approach to therapy, utilizing evidence-based interventions and creative approaches to meet individual client needs. Claire believes in practicing from an intersectional, trauma-informed, gender affirmative perspective, with specific emphasis on assisting clients in developing skills to more effectively navigate their unique life circumstances. Claire’s approach to therapy considers the diverse, intersectional needs and perspectives of individuals who identify as cisgender and/or LGBTQI+.
​Claire earned her Bachelor of Science (BS) in 2010 from Grand Valley State University in psychology and Gender Studies. She earned her Master of Arts (MA) in 2014 from WesternMichigan University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and obtained a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counseling (CAADC) Certification in 2016. She specializes in working with adults struggling with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health issues, grief/loss, and relationship issues. She is proficient as a substance use disorder counselor and has spent over five years working directly with individuals seeking long-term recovery from substance use disorders in both residential and intensive outpatient settings. Claire also has extensive experience working with survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and personal trauma. Claire is certified in Auricular Detoxification Acupuncture, and has received extensive training both in addiction and gender specific therapeutic issues.
